Lori Bentley Week #13

 This Oriental Pygmy Kingfisher was so much fun to do because of the combination of warm colours required in its feathers.

Permanent rose, cadmium orange, burnt sienna & purple lake were applied after the bird had been blocked out with pencils.
In retrospect, I really like it at this first stage with the suggestion of the bird to come. But of course one sometimes carries on and adds more

 The feathers really needed definition, so more of those colours were added to create them.

Then Cad yellow, black and cad red to add detail to the head.
