Lori Bentley Week #26

This Spotted Hyena was done as a challenge from a friend. I used three colours and two watercolour pencils.
Colours: Yellow Ochre, Raw Umber and Sepia

I blocked out the form in ochre watercolour pencil and then immersed the paper in water (see below - I really need to find a bigger tub).

Throwing the paint into very wet paper is a lot of fun - the cool thing is that the watercolour pencil softens, but does not disappear when immersed. I actually need quite a lot of scrubbing to get rid of it.

Once dry, I refined some of the forms with my paint brush and added in some details with a brown watercolour pencil.
